Om dit verlies te kunnen verwerken gaat ze naar een klein dorp en verplaatst ze zich ook naar de middeleeuwen, namelijk naar het jaar 1410. We komen niet echt te weten of de vrouw het hele verhaal echt beleeft, ze het droomt of dat ze misschien aan hallucinaties lijdt. Het verhaal op zich heeft inderdaad alles in zich om die laatste veronderstelling waar te maken. In het imaginair dorp waar de vrouw naartoe trekt wordt door een man een zeemeermin gevonden. De dag daarop is ze echter verdwenen en één enkel hoofdhaar herinnert nog slechts aan haar aanwezigheid. De dorpelingen raden de man aan het bewuste haar zo diep mogelijk te begraven. De man gehoorzaamt zijn medeburgers en sinds die dag is het dorp het doelwit van alle mogelijke rampen.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
