Meer weten we niet van hem, het is niet eens gezegd dat hij een mens is: waarschijnlijk kunnen we hem als zodanig beschouwen vanaf het moment dat de mensheid begint te bestaan; in ieder geval is het zeker dat hij lange tijd deel heeft uitgemaakt van de dierenwereld (onder andere als weekdier). Maar er wordt ons nergens duidelijk gezegd wie hij dáárvoor was en hoe hij er toen uitzag, maar alleen dat hij er was, dat hij bestond. Hoe oud hij is? Aangezien hij alles wat miljoenen of miljarden jaren geleden gebeurd is zelf heeft meegemaakt, moeten we ervan uitgaan dat hij ongeveer zo oud is als het heelal. Als het gesprek ook maar eventjes komt op een onderwerp als de ontbranding der melkwegstelsels of het uitsterven van de dinosaurussen, het ontstaan van het zonnestelsel of de geologische rampen, dan spring hij op en vertelt dat hij er ook bij was. Qfwfq blijkt getuige te zijn geweest van alles wat de theorieën over het  ontstaan van het heelal veronderstellen, en is zelfs wat al te gretig bij het onderschrijven hiervan: voor hem is het geen punt zijn jeugdherinneringen telkens weer te laten samenvallen met allerlei tegenstrijdige of zelfs tegengestelde hypotheses. Elk avontuur staat op zichzelf: Qfwfq is niet eens een personage, het is een stem, een oog (of een knipoog) van een mens, gericht op de werkelijkheid van een wereld die steeds ongevoeliger lijkt te worden voor woord en beeld.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
