Desiderio zwerft als een ware avonturier door een wereld waarin tijd en ruimte aan de grillen van dr Hoffman zijn overgeleverd: zo komt hij op een afschuwelijk manier in contact met negen Marokkaanse acrobaten die soms in onderdelen uiteenvallen en dan met hun eigen ogen jongleren, en wordt hij bij een stam van Indiaanse binnenschippers aangemoedigd tot gescharrel met een achtjarig meisje ('s nachts) en haar grootmoeder ('s- morgens). Dr Hoffman heeft inmiddels zijn bevallige dochter in de strijd geworpen om Desiderio te verleiden en hem voor zijn eigen wetenschappelijke wandaden te misbruiken. Wanneer dr Hoffman de macht verliest over zijn eigen duistere creaties, breekt de chaos eerst goed uit.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
