Het blijkt een zonnestelsel te zijn, dat door een dichte halo omgeven wordt, waarin een heftige straling woedt. Tussen twee spiraalnevels door weet het ruimtejacht de halo binnen te dringen en geraakt dan in de nabijheid van de halo-zon, waaromheen twee planetengroepen in tegengestelde richting cirkelen. Maar bij de tocht door de halo zijn de stuwmotoren van de PROMEET beschadigd en een landing op korte termijn blijkt noodzakelijk. Deze vindt plaats op een zuurstofplaneet van het stelsel, de- planeet SUUK, waar Arn Borul een verwoest ruimtevaartuig ontdekt, dat eens door zijn rasgenoten op Moran op een onderzoekingstocht is uitgezonden.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
