Later verhuisden mijn ouders naar een flat in Zaandam en nog weer later naar een huis in Bakkum aan Zee. Daar ben ik opgegroeid. Ik had een jonger broertje, lieve ouders en een gelukkig jeugd. Na de middelbare school ging ik Nederlands studeren in Amsterdam. Ik schreef toen al stukjes voor de krant en dat bleef ik doen, ook nadat ik was afgestudeerd. Een tijdlang werkte ik bovendien voor de Duitse radio en televisie. Voor een Duitse krant schreef ik over kindertheater. Ik heb ook auditie gedaan voor de toneelschool maar ben afgewezen. Toen ik zelf kinderen kreeg begon ik sprookjes te vertellen op hun scholen. Dat vond ik nog leuker dan mijn werk. Ik las niet voor, ik deed het uit mijn hoofd, en ik verzon er van alles bij. Ik heb jarenlang sprookjes verteld, tot mijn jongste kind in groep acht zat, en in die tijd ben ik zelf kinderverhalen gaan schrijven. Mijn eerste boek was De meisjes tegen de jongens, in de serie Lotte &amp; Roos. Het verscheen bij Querido. Sindsdien heb ik nog vier boeken gepubliceerd. Umbrador, het laatste boek, is een sprookjesachtig, donker verhaal. Een beetje zoals ik ze vroeger graag op school vertelde. De andere boeken zijn vrolijk, en lichter van toon. Ik denk dat ze allemaal samen precies weerspiegelen wie ik ben. Als je nóg meer over mij wilt weten kun je de Vragen en Antwoorden lezen. Dat is ook handig als je een spreekbeurt over een van mijn boeken houdt. Bij de Extra’s vind je kleurplaten en interviews tussen mij en de karakters in de boeken.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
