Alice Hoogstad is een Nederlandse </ins>Illustrator<ins style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">. Haar vader is de architect Jan Hoogstad en haar moeder Heleen Schipper hield erg van lezen. Alice groeide op tussen metershoge boekenkasten. Ze heeft twee broers en twee zussen. In het landelijke Rhoon had ze een fijne jeugd. Het gezin bewoonde een heel bijzonder huis dat door vader Jan was ontworpen, met een grote tuin er omheen. Er waren altijd dieren in haar directe omgeving: paarden en pony’s, eenden, katten, kikkers, duiven, geiten, konijnen enzovoort. Vooral met haar paarden heeft ze veel avonturen beleefd in de grienden langs de Oude Maas en op het opgespoten land van de Rotterdamse havens in aanleg. Na de middelbare school koos ze voor de kunstacademie in Rotterdam. (Nu de Willem de Kooning Academie) Vanaf 1986 maakt ze vrijwel uitsluitend illustraties voor kinderboeken. Ze werkt voor verschillende bekende uitgeverijen, zoals Lemniscaat, Leopold en Querido. Inmiddels heeft ze aan meer dan 200 kinder- en jeugdboeken meegewerkt. Veel boeken werden ook in andere landen uitgegeven, zoals Frankrijk, Finland, Denemarken, Zweden, Noorwegen, Duitsland, Italië, Zwitserland, Oostenrijk, de VS, Argentinië, China en Zuid-Korea. Ze tekende voor de boeken van bekende en bekroonde schrijvers, zoals [[Persoon/2292|Guus Kuijer]], [[Persoon/2501|Paul van Loon]], [[Persoon/2265|Rindert Kromhout]], [[Persoon/3431|Lydia Rood]], Erik en [[Persoon/1531754970|Elle van Lieshout]] en vele anderen.
