Wist als enige onder te duiken toen het joodse gezin waaruit ze kwam werd weggevoerd. Haar werk draagt sterk het stempel van die zwarte dagen. Gehuwd met dichter Bert Voeten. Voor haar gehele oeuvre ontving zij in 2005 de Constantijn Huygensprijs en in 2019 de P.C. Is een Nederlandse schrijfster van 'humoristische en absurdistische verhalen en suggestieve, sobere vertellingen'. Ze is het derde kind van de vertegenwoordiger Salomon Menco, zoon van een orthodox joodse procuratiehouder uit Oldenzaal, en Grietje Menco-van Hoorn, dochter van een Groningse textielhandelaar uit 't Zandt (Groningen). Oorspronkelijk heette de familie Minco; de naam Menco ontstond aan het begin van de 20e eeuw door een schrijffout van een ambtenaar. Wist als enige onder te duiken toen het joodse gezin waaruit ze kwam werd weggevoerd. Haar werk draagt sterk het stempel van die zwarte dagen. Gehuwd met dichter Bert Voeten. Voor haar gehele oeuvre ontving zij in 2005 de Constantijn Huygensprijs en in 2019 de P.C. Hooftprijs.</ins></div></td></tr> </table>
