Astrid Verplancke is een Vlaamse illustrator, grafisch ontwerper, schilder, tekenaar en scenograaf. Deed haar Masterproef illustratie aan het KASK in Gent. Ze maakte ze een triptiek waarin ze de grenzen tussen illustratie en autonoom werk aftastte. Ze vulde de triptiek met expressief en pasteus geschilderde panelen van bonkige koppen, heldere abstracties en botanische elementen. Sindsdien vormen deze motieven drie belangrijke pijlers in haar werk.
